Amanda Roth, PsyD, HSPP

Meet Dr. Roth

Dr. Roth has worked in the field of psychology since 2017 and has experience with a variety of populations and settings in Indiana and Kentucky. Her experience includes individual and group therapy with adults and older adolescents (15+). Dr. Roth has received extensive training in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of eating disorders and has a particular passion for working with individuals struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns. She is currently in her fellowship year as a Clinical Psychologist  at Resolutions Psychological Services.

Formal Training: 

Predoctoral Internship

Dr. Roth completed her one-year, full-time APA-accredited internship at the University of Notre Dame Counseling Center. During her internship, she provided individual and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students with a variety of presenting concerns, including eating disorders, disordered eating, depression, anxiety, stress, transitions, and substance use.


Practicum and Work Experience

Dr. Roth completed two years of supervised practicum at Indiana University Southeast Personal Counseling Services where she provided individual therapy to students with diverse needs including anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, body image struggles, and identity concerns. She completed one year of supervised practicum at the Louisville Center for Eating Disorders where she provided individual and group therapy to adults and adolescents with eating disorders at the outpatient and intensive outpatient levels of care. Dr. Roth also completed a one-year supervised practicum at Woodview Psychology Group where she conducted psychological evaluations and provided individual and group therapy services to adults and adolescents.

In addition to formal training, Dr. Roth worked as a Psychometrist at Resolutions Psychological Services for one year prior to internship. She conducted cognitive, achievement, and personality testing to assist with diagnosing ADHD, learning disabilities, and other issues. 


Clinical Interests & Experiences

A large majority of Dr. Roth’s clinical experiences have been in university counseling centers, private practices, and outpatient clinic/intensive outpatient programs. Dr. Roth has special interest and expertise in treating eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, stress, adjustment issues, self-esteem, and trauma. Her focus is working with adults and adolescents (13+).

The foundation of Dr. Roth’s therapeutic approach is to journey with others and provide a safe and comfortable setting for emotional expression. Dr. Roth utilizes a non-directive integrative approach emphasizing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal process therapy, and client-centered conceptualizations and treatment. She integrates dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and emotion-focused strategies as needed. 

Dr. Roth has experience providing diagnostic testing of children and adults with various referral questions. She has administered intellectual testing for gifted children as well as those with intellectual disabilities.
