Michael Chambers, M.A.

Michael is a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) student at the University of Indianapolis. He earned his Associate of Science (A.S.) in Psychology with Honors from Ivy Tech Community College and his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology with Honors from the Strain Honors College at the University of Indianapolis. His work in the Honors College culminated in being awarded the 2023 Student of the Year Award by the National Collegiate Honors Council.

Michael has experience working with adolescents and adults with various mental health needs, including depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, psychosis, hallucinations, gender identity concerns, and ADHD. He also has experience working with individuals experiencing intellectual self-doubt and impostor phenomenon, a topic he has previously researched and continues to pursue.

Michael’s primary role at Resolutions is to assist in conducting psychological assessments and diagnostic services. He has experience administering assessments for intellectual/cognitive functioning, academic achievement, attention disorders, mood/affect disorders, and performance-based (previously referred to as “projective”) personality measures.

Michael works primarily from an Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) perspective, incorporating aspects of Interpersonal Process, Gestalt, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy when appropriate for his clients. When it comes to psychological assessment, Michael is a self-described “diagnostic minimalist” and prioritizes conceptualizing the client for who they are rather than just the symptoms they might be experiencing.

His clinical interests include intellectual self-doubt, impostor phenomenon, and mood/personality disorders. Michael is excited to grow and learn through this experience and is eager to challenge himself by learning and administering various psychological assessments.
