Dr. McGinley has evaluated hundreds of individuals throughout the Midwest. Her practical experiences have included psychological testing in schools, community mental health centers, and prison settings. Through her private practice experience, she has provided diagnostic testing of children and adults with various referral questions. She has administered intellectual testing for gifted children as well as those with intellectual disabilities. Individuals are often referred to her for diagnostic testing for ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Mood Disorders as well as psychoeducational testing of Learning Disorders.
Of particular interest to Dr. McGinley is not only the diagnostic benefits of psychological testing, but the recommendations that she is able to provide based on testing. She enjoys assisting patients through recommendations to be used for school settings such as with IEPs. Additionally, her reports have allowed patients to accommodate their therapeutic needs or determine the need for medical follow-up.
A large majority of Dr. McGinley’s clinical experience have been in community mental centers and private practice settings working with a wide range of adults and children with acute and chronic mental health concerns. Specialties include helping children and adults cope with anxiety and stress, building and practicing social skills with those who have Autism Spectrum Disorder, and working through trauma. She also enjoys helping those with ADHD develop strategies to manage the diagnosis beyond medication.
Her clinical work includes a non-directive integrative approach emphasizing psychodynamic, attachment-focused, family systems, mindfulness, and client-centered conceptualizations and treatment. With children, Dr. McGinley includes the use of behavioral techniques, yoga, and play.
Recently, Dr. McGinley has become strongly committed to working with those who have experienced PTSD, especially first responders and veterans. This is a population she is interested in helping and welcomes to RPS.
